Anyone have a copy of DBFtrieve they want to sell?

Or some other access to Btrieve data that's programmable and preferably has
a small footprint?

Please contact me at the address below or in the ng.

Ugly! I wonder why they would sell something that they can't deliver. that's
pretty shady.

I have a potential project that requires some report writing for btrieve; so let
us know what you end up doing -- I don't want to have to use odbc...

You can download the Pervasive SDK and use the activeX controls. If
you need to create DDF files for existing files you can take a look at
BtSearch32 at www.nssdd.com. It helps you analzye the structure and
build the DDF files. Once you have these you can use Crystal reports
or write your own reports.

Apparently they don't keep stock. When they get an order, they have to get
it from the author, and in this case, the author appears unreachable.

The product is a few years old now; perhaps it doesn't work any more anyway.

I'll probably go with ODBC.

great -- that's a very poor way of doing business...

Hi ,
DBFtrieve is too fast.
For example:
4 btrieve files total 2.9 mb.
Create vfp dbc + dbf + transfer all fields (119 fields) = 1 second 186
milisecond.

In my experience, DBFtrieve is infinitely slow. That's becauseDBFtrieve is
unavailable.

Hi ,
Who said that ,"In my experience, DBFtrieve is infinitely slow. That's
becauseDBFtrieve is unavailable. "
Maybe he's right.But I'm not sure.

Please send me one large btrieve file with field structure.I would like
to test, how many seconds does it takes.

The other way some body test some btrieve file with ActiveX or Odbc. How
many seconds does it takes too?

Which way is more speeder than the other?

I don't understand your question.

If you're asking about DBFtrieve, it is unavailable for purchase. Therefore,
getting Btrieve data using DBFtrieve is infinitely slow.

If you're asking about the speed difference between ODBC and Pervasive's
ActiveX controls, I don't know. I don't know anything about the ActiveX
controls, and haven't used them. I did try ODBC, and it seemed fast enough,
but that was for a small amount of data located on the local machine. For a
large amount of data on a remote machine, I don't know that either.
